∞ 5	whilstwewait: by Joy Asto Dear Vivian, During our summer getaway in Pangasinan, I know I promised that we’d go to the magnificent Hundred Islands in my dad’s hometown. I told you that we’d have to ride a motorized boat to get to one of the islands, but the boat ride would be a feast for your eyes and mine as we pass by breath-taking views. We were so excited to enjoy the beach and take beautiful photos home with us. But plans changed, and we instead visited my mom’s hometown in Urbiztondo, then my grandparents in Burgos. You wanted to take photos of the cornfields, rice paddies, and barrio life in mom’s hometown, but I told you to wait and save your winks for later. I assured you that my dad said we’ll still get our beach time, and that the views will still most likely be snapshot-worthy. Not in Hundred Islands anymore, but somewhere I myself have never been to. I told you, come to think of it, perhaps it would be a surprise for both of us, like how Mindoro Beach in Vigan amazed us. Remember how unfriendly that roaring beach was? But our photos of its angry waves pounding against the dark sand are among the most beautiful photos I brought home with me from the trip. Now, many months after our Tambobong Beach encounter, I’m looking again at the lovely photos we took. I am reminded of the calm, swimming-perfect waters, fine sand, starfishies, bubbly locals living by the coastline, and the mysterious islands faintly visible in the horizon. It’s because of these photos that I’m missing travelling and seeing the world through your eyes. You never fail to surprise me! Looking forward to roaming the world with you again, Yoj
∞ 2	Persian Square: Great Food, Delicious Interiors I keep forgetting to mention that I recently started a food blog with some friends. Feel free to follow! tummyrumbles: If you’re an adventurous diner constantly searching for unique flavors, you may want to take the challenge up a notch by trying out authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. It may not be as strong or spicy as that of Korean or Thai Cuisine, but it has its own share of distinct flavours and dishes that tickle the taste buds. My friends and I had our first taste of authentic Middle Eastern dishes in Persian Square, an attractive restaurant in Metrowalk, Pasig City that stands out from the rest because of its lavish outdoor and indoor decorations. It exudes a classy ambience, inviting diners to come in through its beautiful double doors embellished with stained glass. ∞ 7	Sometimes I’m amazed at how Bonnie (my Canon Powershot E1) can take decent photos even after zooming. I sometimes wish this was taken using a DSLR for better quality, but more often than not, I like it the way it is.
